If you love diet soda or you always stir in a couple of packets of aspartame, sucralose or saccharine into your morning coffee, you may be setting yourself up for obesity, diabetes and other health problems.

Israeli researchers discovered last year that mice who consumed artificial sweeteners were more likely to become obese and develop glucose intolerance. They found that these products change the number of intestinal bacteria that impact metabolism, which converts food to energy or stored fuel. Conceivably, if the link exists in mice, it may also exist in humans, according to Scientific American.

Lumber Liquidators is facing the first amended class action complaint concerning allegations that some of the company’s flooring products fail prematurely, contain defects and have been associated with very high levels of the cancer-causing agent, formaldehyde.

Lumber Liquidators is accused of selling laminated flooring that is defective and prone to premature cracking, splitting, warping and shrinking sooner than claimed in the product’s warranty. According to the suit, consumers have also complained that Lumber Liquidator’s flooring contains very high levels of formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. The “Superfish” software is an Internet browser add-on that floods your computer screen with ads when you visit websites. It also undermines basic computer security protocols, according to CNN Money, by tampering with a widely used system of official website certificates.
